Some little boys collect bugs. Ryan has never been interested in those. (thankfully!) Some little boys collect rocks, and maybe that's coming down the pike, but for now Ryan has decided on a collection he is going to start... presidential memorabilia! What 5 year old doesn't want that? We met a little old man downtown selling old campaign buttons and right away Ryan spotted an old LBJ button and just had to have it. So now his little collection has begun. We also picked up a pin from JFK's inauguration.
It's so strange what having kids will do to you... I never gave a rat's patootie about history or was the least bit curious about the presidents, yet now I find myself strangely drawn to learning about them.

How cool! I think presidential buttons are a fabulous thing to start collecting! Hayden decided he wants to start collecting pennants...I think it is fun to watch. Brian has a collection of miniature sports helmets from when he was a little boy and the kids LOVE looking at them. The big question is, how expensive is this presidential button hobby going to be!!!!???
There is an antique store in Leesburg - the one across from the wine shop - that has gobs of old and new presidential buttons. I noticed them and the prices the other day after reading this post, and they range from about $1 to $12. He would be in heaven checking them all out!
