Dancing Queen

Today was Katie's winter recital, and after much hussle and bustle and craziness this morning, we made it to the show. This year Katie wanted to do a tap dance for the recital, but after seeing the costume for that particular dance, she reconsidered and settled for a ballet number even though ballet is much too boring for her taste. She is all about the outfit, so no matter what she had to do she was going to get that Snow Queen dress... such the diva that she is! In the back row, aaaak!!! I could barely see her behind the tall girls in front of her! She might think ballet is boring, but every arabesque was right on the mark and lovely and graceful as ever I've seen. She's ready to trade her ballet slippers for some soccer cleats, but I hope she hangs in there for a couple more recitals. She does love getting out on that stage and performing! The "Kingdom of the Sweets" was the theme of the show and Miss Lori had little candy shaped pillows for all the dancers after the grand finale dance, "I Want Candy"...how perfect! From her seat, Claire recognized and couldn't take her eyes off Katie the entire time. She's definitely ready to start dancing and join in the next recital!

It's been our tradition to eat out at Katie's favorite restaurant after her shows, and we met a couple other dancers at Olive Garden with their families too.
The pressure of performing was exhausting!

Really mom?? Another picture??

I have never been so proud of our little girl!! She did an awesome job and really shined! I hope that she continues to perform in these recitals - from tears to laughter, it's a great experience all around.
